How to Measure your Windows

At Blinds Warehouse we believe the ability to measure your windows correctly is a skill we all should possess when installing DIY blinds.
Please see our guides below for instructions on how to measure your windows.

Some windows may appear to be the same size, however you should measure each window individually to avoid mistakes.

A practical approach will give you the best results, try not to over complicate the process, in most cases there will be sufficient sill depth for Inside Mounts and for Outside Mounts a window frame (architraves) in which to hang your new blinds.

Use the measure guide information set out below. If you still need help? Live Operators are available to answer any questions.

Please follow the guidelines below carefully before measuring windows for blinds:

  • Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy.
  • Decide if your blinds will be fitted inside or outside the window frame
  • The position of handles, bars or tiles and the depth of a window can affect the fit of a blind. Take these into account when determining the fit.
  • When measuring round off to the nearest millimetre (mm).
  • Always indicate the WIDTH measurement first, then the DROP last (W x D).
  • Please check ALL measurements. Accurate measurements are important for an exact fit.
